The Orientation Class is designed to introduce you to Fayetteville Public Television and to the Fayetteville Television Center. You will receive information about policies and procedures, take a tour of the facilities and equipment and also be given the opportunity to find out how you can get involved by taking classes and producing television programs. This class is a prerequisite for all other classes.

The Basic Field Production Class is designed to teach you how to use the Fayetteville Television Center’s basic field production equipment. Topics covered include field camera and tripod operation, shot composition, setting up field audio, and basic shooting techniques, along with hands-on experience. This class consists of one 90-minute session. After completing this class you will be qualified to use the basic field production equipment at the Television Center. This class is a prerequisite for Advanced Field Production.

The Basic Editing Class will give you an introduction to video editing on a computer. Topics covered include creating new projects, importing your video footage, performing basic edits, adding transitions, creating graphics, and outputting your finished project. This class consists on one 2-hour session. After completing this class you will be qualified to reserve and use the Fayetteville Television Center’s basic editing systems to create programs. This class is a prerequisite for Advanced Editing.

The Studio Production Classes are designed to teach you how to produce television programs in the Fayetteville Television Center’s studio.

• The classes consist of the following five topics:
• Studio Directing and Technical Directing (120 min), Studio Audio (90 min), Studio Camera and Lighting (90 min),
• Floor Directing and Studio Crew (90 min), and Studio Graphics (90 min)

After completing each class, you will be qualified to serve in that role as a production crew member.

The Studio Lab is where students practice the skills they have learned in the classroom. Students in Studio Lab will work on an actual production, and their performance will be assessed both individually and as part of a team. Students in studio classes are required to participate in at least one Studio Lab session to complete their practical exam and pass the Studio class.

The Advanced Field Production Class is designed to give students in-depth training on concepts and advanced techniques of field production. Topics covered include lens techniques, camera movement, shot composition, lighting for video, field audio, tips and tricks, and more. You will also get to use the Fayetteville Television Center’s advanced field production equipment. This class consists of three weekly 90-minute sessions. This class qualifies you to use the advanced field production equipment available at the City of Fayetteville Television Center.

After you have completed the Advanced Field Production classes, we offer three additional classes:

• Advanced Field Technique and Theory (90 min)
• Advanced Field Producing and Planning (90 min)
• Advanced Field Assignment and Critique (Contact staff for more details.)

These classes are offered to increase the skill set of producers and help enhance the quality of their field productions.

The Advanced Editing Class is designed to give you in-depth training in the concepts and techniques of video editing. Topics covered include transitions, the use of filters for effect, audio editing, action matching and more. This class will consist of three weekly 90-minute class sessions.

After you have completed the Advanced Editing classes, we offer three additional classes:

• Color Correction (90 min)
• Animation (90 min)
• Chroma Key / Green Screen Editing (90 min)

These classes are offered to aid producers in increasing the visual interest and quality of their productions.
